As of January 1, 2021, if you’re a Group A retired beneficiary, you are required to pay a monthly TRICARE Select enrollment fee to maintain your TRICARE Select coverage. You’re in Group A if your initial enlistment or appointment or that of your uniformed services sponsor began {fontweight=500:before} Jan. 1, 2018. You’re in Group B if your initial enlistment or appointment or that of your uniformed services sponsor began {fontweight=500:after} Jan. 1, 2018. If you are TRICARE For Life (TFL), this information does not apply to you. You will be required to pay your enrollment fee via a monthly allotment (deduction from your retirement pay). If you're unable to pay via allotment, then you can set up a recurring payment via credit/debit card OR electronic funds transfer. <h4>How Does TRICARE Select Overseas for Retirees Work?</h4> With TRICARE Select Overseas for Retirees, you manage your own health care and may generally seek care from any <a href="https://tricare-overseas.com/beneficiaries/resources/provider-search" target="_blank">overseas civilian provider</a> without a referral. However, certain services, including nonemergency inpatient admissions for substance use disorders and mental health care, require prior authorization. <a href="https://tricare-overseas.com/beneficiaries/enrollment-and-eligibility/referrals-and-authorizations" target="_blank">Click here</a> for more information. You are responsible for paying enrollment costs, an annual deductible and copayments each calendar year. You should expect to pay up front for care and submit a claim to the TOP Claims processor for reimbursement.  {fontweight=500:Note:} Outside the U.S. and U.S. territories, nonparticipating non-network providers can charge any amount for care. You can also pay your monthly fees though electronic funds transfer (EFT). Your EFT must be from a U.S. bank.</li> </ul> Failure to pay fees will result in suspension of coverage.
